Crested Butte, Colorado is a quaint historic mining town which was established during the 1880's. It is big, open and free of crowds. Here, year-round, you can enjoy one-of-a kind shops and restaurants, a variety of comfortable lodging options, and all types of outdoor activities.
There is a real sense of community in Crested Butte. In the summer, the winter paradise which is also called "Colorado's last great ski town" plays host to tourists who come to enjoy all of Colorado's outdoor recreational activities which include hiking in aspen and/or alpine forests, mountain biking on great mountain trails, fishing in the many lakes, streams, and rivers and rafting and kayaking in Class II-IV rapids. There is also camping opportunities which range from the very primitive to full service. There is also boating, horseback riding, and spectacular scenery which give Crested Butte its title as the "official Wildflower Capital of Colorado."
During the winter, snowboarders and skiers enjoy thousand-plus acres of great snow covered terrain which provides service via fourteen chairlifts. The ski area boasts of 2,700 vertical feet of pure white paradise.
