East River
The East River is located within a short distance from Crested Butte, Colorado. Despite the name East River, the waterway is actually located in the middle of Colorado's mountainous country surrounded by the natural beauty that is Colorado at its best. The East River tumbles together with the Taylor River to form the Gunnison River.
The East River is the perfect, scenic spot for fly-fishing, hiking or just enjoying the flow of the stream while contemplating nature or reading a good book. Found in a ranching valley just north of Gunnison, Colorado, the river has numerous rocky bars, which are excellent fishing spots. These are also great spots for getting your feet wet in the heat of the summer months. As you stand on one of the rocky bars, you can take in the scenery of grassy slopes which rise up to high mountain peaks.
Known as a great fly-fishing spot, this is also a great waterway to enjoy rafting, kayaking and/or canoeing. The stream flow may vary, as this is a natural river without any dam upstream, so whatever activity you are planning on, it is wise to first check the height and flow of the water.
