Established in 1988 in Crested Butte, Colorado, the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame and Museum showcases the history of mountain biking. The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame documents the individuals and the events, which have contributed to the history of mountain biking since the sport's inception nearly thirty years ago.
Located in downtown Crested Butte, Colorado, the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame and Museum can be found at 331 Elk Avenue. It is actually located within the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum. Here, the visitor can see displays and exhibits of memorabilia, including vintage bikes, components, classic photos, press clippings and highlights from historic races and events.
From its origin in 1988 through 2006, the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame has inducted ninety-six individuals and four groups who have contributed to the sport of mountain biking.
The Crested Butte area is definitely the right location for the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. Crested Butte has some of the best mountain biking in the country. So bring your mountain bike or rent one in one of the sports shops in town and enjoy the many trails and scenic vistas in the area, then take a tour of the Hall of Fame and Museum to learn all about the origins of this great sport.
