Just a few miles north of Gunnison off Highway 135, you will find Ohio Creek. This stream is noted for the beautiful valley that it flows through. The banks of the stream are lined with lush green hay meadow bottoms and scenic cattle ranches. For the majority of its flow, the Ohio Creek passes through private property.

To get to Ohio Creek, leave Gunnison and travel north on Highway 135. Take the Ohio Creek Road Exit and travel nearly eight miles on a paved road, where you will then reach a gravel road. The views to Ohio Creek are as spectacular as being able to see the surrounding of the Creek. As you travel toward the Creek, you will travel through the Gunnison National Forest and the West Elk Wilderness. The views are awe-inspiring.

At the junction of Carbon Creek and Ohio Creek Road, go right. Here is an area about a mile that that is public access. There is an excellent beaver pond in the area that is full of trout.

The Ohio Creek Valley is not only scenic, but is also home to 2,775 acres of conservancy land that provides critical sage grouse habitat.
