4th of July Parade

The 4th of July in Telluride is an action packed day centered around the famous parade. The parade runs along Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte, and is promised to be a treat for all sightseers. Traditionally there are floats and costumes decorated with local flavor and humor.

The Gunnison Rotary Club has sponsored the 4th of July festivities in Crested Butte for 55 years, and the events keep getting better. The pancakes, music, food booths, fireworks and block party are all fun, but nothing beats the parade. Last year the crowd favorite was a float that featured costumed participants going down a water slide, through a ring of fire and into a pool. There is plenty of local flavor that adds humor and festivity to the scene. There are local Crested Butte groups who annually try to out do each other for the more outrageous costume. The parade is fun for the whole family and there is plenty of viewing space along Elk Avenue.
