Crested Butte Triathalon
The Crested Butte Triathalon is a rugged race usually scheduled towards the end of July. The race includes a 1k swim, 24k mountain bike and a 9k trail run. There is $2,500 in cash prizes and plenty of prizes and raffle gifts. The race travels in and around the Crested Butte area.
This triathalon promises to be tough but enjoyable. The swim is held in Grant Lake in Skyland and requires wetsuits for the chilly Colorado waters. The bike leaves Grant Lake and travels through a mix of single track, pavement and dirt roads, finally finishing back at the lake. The run starts out on the same route as the bike and finishes with a beautiful lap around the lake. There is a registration fee, $164 early entry for teams and $79 for individuals. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the male and females pro classes. There are a range of age groups and custom medals will be awarded to the top three finishes in each group.
