Gunnison Cattleman's Days

For the last 100 years, the Gunnison valley has celebrated its rich western heritage at the Gunnison Cattleman's Days. Each July several days are devoted to the "Granddaddy of Colorado's Rodeos," with countless activities and great entertainment. Scheduled between spring calving and summer haying, Cattlemen's Days continues to demonstrate the rhythm of traditional ranch lifestyles. The event however, has made leaps and bounds from the days when Gunnison County ranch hands tried their luck with local ornery livestock. Its popularity now attracts PRCA cowboys and cowgirls from around the United States and Canada. These are professionals that promise topnotch performances to please the large crowds that come to watch.

Overview: Gunnison's Cattleman's Days attracts people from all over, including some of the world's top cowboys and cowgirls. Between the many horse shows, races, and other events, you will soon know why it is known as the best rodeo in the state. The first day kicks off with the Open Horse Show for people of all ages interested in competing in several different horse disciplines, even if you've never even ridden. For authentic western roping, racing, and riding there is no better display than here at Cattleman's Days.

Details: There are a few fundraisers during Cattleman's Days, including the popular "Tough Enough to Wear Pink Rodeo," supporting local breast cancer awareness, research, and prevention.
