Mardi Gras Mania
When you think of Mardi Gras, it's doubtful that Crested Butte is what comes to mind. Celebrate Fat Tuesday here just once, though, and you will see how the town transforms itself with Mardi Gras Mania. You might just think you're in the French Quarter, but with lots of snow!
Mardi Gras Mania takes Crested Butte by storm every year with several days of events and celebrations. From the masquerade ball to the Fat Tuesday Parade and Party, there are plenty of good times to take part in before lent begins. The party mood is set when the whole town gets festively decorated while locals and visitors alike adorn themselves with lots of beads.
Mardi Gras Mania kicks off with the Masquerade Ball, where revelers dine on a gourmet meal and compete for prizes awarded to the best costumes. The following days are celebrated with bands, a crawfish boil, all sorts of apres-ski entertainment, and concludes with the Fat Tuesday Parade and Party. This parade rivals that of one in New Orleans with its costumes, floats, beads, and bands. It's a great way to celebrate the nearing end of the ski season as well get to see the colorful locals at their best.
