Crested Butte is known as the wildflower capital of the world, and its Wildflower Festival is often referred to as the best annual festival in the mountains. Taking place in the beginning of July, this festival celebrates the amazing beauty of Crested Butte.

This weeklong botanical celebration honors Crested Butte’s designation as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado. Walking and hiking tours through mountain meadows, national forests and the narrow alleys of Crested Butte’s old historic district bring you face-to-face with the magnificent native flora that prompted this declaration. The annual festival offers workshops, tours, lectures and slide shows. Classes include learning to identify, photograph, paint, draw, cook, plant and heal with wildflowers.

Overview: The Wildflower Festival takes over Crested Butte for a week full of tours, performances, workshops, and more. This festival offers fun for everyone from wildflower enthusiasts to those who just want to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Crested Butte area. Photographers love the Wildflower Festival as there are many opportunities to get great shots of the flowers during daily sunrise and sunset tours.

Details:  There are also over 70 hikes and walks offered where you can learn to identify the many different species of wildflowers. The hikes and walks cater to every fitness level, and for the more adventurous you can try taking the hike from Crested Butte to Aspen

Festival goers can also try taking 4x4 tours, horseback rides, wagon rides, and float trips, all offering unsurpassed views of Crested Butte's lovely wildflowers.

You can even take part in painting or drawing workshops, where you can find your inner artist, while there are several kids programs offered to ensure the whole family is kept busy.
