Wildflower Rush Bike Races
As the grand finale of Fat Tire Bike Week in Crested Butte, the Wildflower Rush Bike Races are an exciting ending to a fun week. The Wildflower Rush features three mountain bike races, each challenging in their own right, plus a kids race open to any children under the age of 10.
Fat Tire Bike Week is a very popular event during the summer in Crested Butte, filled with many great biking activities. People are often sad to see the event come to an end, but with the Wildflower Rush Bike Races, it finishes with a bang. Featuring a cross country race, a downhill race, and the recently added "Super-D" race, there is a good variety of exciting events. The cross country race is the first of the three, taking riders up a distance of 1800 vertical feet with each lap, totaling 10 miles.
The next day, the Wildflower Rush continues with the downhill and "Super-D" races. The downhill features steep singletrack and technical wooded areas, while the "Super-D" borrows the best elements from both cross country and downhill. All of the races are challenging and fast , while prizes are awarded in pro, semi-pro, and other categories.
