Fly-fishing dominates the anglers' interest in Crested Butte and for good reason. Near Crested Butte, Colorado, you will find the headwaters of the famous Gunnison River – the Taylor River and the East River. Each of these bodies of water is known for the excellent fly-fishing found here. In addition, other lesser-known streams provide pristine settings for anglers. If you travel only a short distance and the time of year is right, you can also catch Kokanee Salmon in the waters of Blue Mesa Reservoir.
With a little luck, a bit of skill and some local knowledge or with a guide, you will be able to catch many fish including the native brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout.
When traveling to Crested Butte, bring along your fishing gear and plan to spend some time casting your line into clear waters and catching trophy trout.
