Taylor Park Reservoir
An excellent location to catch those 'big ones" is at Taylor Park Reservoir. Located about thirty-five miles northeast of Gunnison, Colorado and close to Crested Butte, the Taylor Park Reservoir was formed when the water of the Taylor River was dammed. You can either fish from the shore or use a boat.

Taylor Park Reservoir is the spot to catch various fish species including rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, mackinaw, Kokanee salmon and northern pike. Brook trout are found in the many tributaries that feed into the Reservoir.
You can fish from the shore or use a boat to get further out in the water. The Taylor Park Dam is a part of the Uncompahgre Project in Colorado and is maintained by the United States Forest Service. There is a camping area along the shore so it is easy to camp and fish. There is also a marina on the southern edge of the Reservoir where you can rent all types of fishing equipment including boats.
