There are plenty of local outfitters in the area to rent horses for a half day, full day, or several days if you like. Choosing a trail is easy, and along the way you will see fields of wildflowers, occasional wildlife, and beautiful views of the area. Bring along a picnic and make the most out of a leisurely day.
Even if you have never been on a horse, or are a seasoned equestrian, this will be an unforgettable experience. You can even take a guided tour into the amazing backcountry of Crested Butte if you wish. There are also daily riding clinics offered for those who want to become better riders or learn the western style.
Horseback riding offers you a wonderful chance to see Colorado's natural beauty the way many of its first inhabitants did, and you will soon realize why Crested Butte is known as "the wildflower capital of the world."
