Overview

With affordable lift tickets, no real-estate development and zero artificial snowmaking, 70-year-old Monarch Mountain is a delightful throwback. But don't be fooled, Monarch offers modern amenities, including on-site dining, lessons and rentals, as well as some of the driest powder snow and most exotic terrain in Colorado.

Location

From Crested Butte, Monarch Pass skiing is about 50 miles west along Highway 50. Salida, a charming town along the Arkansas River, is 20 miles east of Monarch ski area.

Season/Hours

Monarch usually opens in late November through early April, conditions permitting. Lifts turn every day from 9 AM to 4 PM.
